The Indonesian Council on World Affairs (ICWA) has condemned a series of heinous Israeli attacks amid the Hezbollah-Israel conflict in southern Lebanon on 29 and 30 March 2026, which led to the deaths of three TNI peacekeeping personnel from UNIFIL and injuries to three others.

ICWA Executive Chairman Al Busyra Basnur stated that Israel attacked the sovereign Republic of Lebanon and the UN peacekeeping force tasked with maintaining peace there. The escalating barbaric actions of Israel demonstrate to the world that it has no intention of achieving peace in the Middle East.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the fallen peacekeepers and the three other Indonesian UNIFIL personnel who suffered severe injuries,” Al Busyra said in a written statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The fallen UNIFIL peacekeeping personnel are: (1) Captain TNI Inf. Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, (2) Sergeant One TNI Muhammad Nur Ichwan, and (3) Private TNI Farizal Rhomadhon.

He also prayed for the full recovery of the injured peacekeepers. According to him, the tragedy is just one of several incidents that have endangered the safety and security of UN peacekeepers.

To that end, he said that ICWA agrees with the Indonesian Government’s stance to urge the Security Council to hold an emergency meeting regarding the deadly attack carried out by Israel in Lebanon.

In addition, ICWA supports the statement by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres that UNIFIL is still conducting a thorough investigation to determine the origin of the projectile. The UN has strongly condemned the attack targeting peacekeeping forces and urged respect for international law.
