Riau Regional Police have installed iconic signs bearing the words “Green Policing” as part of efforts to strengthen their commitment to environmental protection. The signs are spread across 10 locations, positioning Pekanbaru as a “Green City”.

The iconic “Green Policing” signs were displayed at a number of parks and public facilities in Pekanbaru on Sunday (22/2/2026).

Made from acrylic and steel, the signs serve as visual icons for the Green Policing campaign in public spaces.

Head of Public Relations for Riau Regional Police, Commissioner Zahwani Pandra Arsyad, stated that the installation of these acrylic signs is not merely about urban aesthetics but is part of a public education effort.

“Green Policing is our commitment to integrating policing duties with concern for the environment. We want this message to be present directly in public spaces so that the community becomes increasingly aware that maintaining cleanliness, preserving nature, and looking after public facilities are shared responsibilities,” said Commissioner Pandra on Monday (23/2/2026).

He added that his office continues to coordinate with relevant agencies to ensure all installations are fully functional in the near future. The successful display of the Green Policing visual icons was made possible through cooperation with the Pekanbaru city government.

Commissioner Pandra urged all members of the community to help maintain the installed facilities and to collectively support the realisation of a clean, green, safe, and sustainable Pekanbaru.

The acrylic sign installation is part of efforts to build collective public awareness about the importance of environmental protection, creating green public spaces, and presenting a police force that is humanistic and concerned with nature conservation.

The locations where signs have been installed and illumination is already operational include the entrance to the Riau Regional Police headquarters, the front garden of the regional police compound, the grounds of Al Adzim Mosque, and the grounds of Rumah Singgah Tuan Kadi.

Meanwhile, six additional locations have also been fitted with signs: the park beside Hotel Aryaduta Pekanbaru, the park in front of Hotel Premiere Pekanbaru near the Ikan Selais Monument, the Anti-Corruption Monument Park (in front of the Mayor’s residence), the Rumbai Stadium intersection, the park at the entrance to the AKAP Bus Terminal, and the Simpang 3 Airport junction.
