ICON Bali has won the World Silver Winner award in the retail category at the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards 2026. The prestigious award was presented at the Hofburg in Vienna, Austria, on 11 June 2026. “For us, this award is also an appreciation of an idea, that local values, culture, and Balinese identity can gain recognition on the world stage,” said Heru Nasution, President Director of PT Grha Hatten Duasatu, on Friday (24/7/2026). The FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards is an awards event for the best property projects from various countries. Participants are winners of national-level awards in their respective countries. ICON Bali was the only shopping mall representing Indonesia in the international property awards event. This achievement follows ICON Bali’s success in winning the Gold Winner in the retail category at the FIABCI Indonesia-REI Excellence Awards 2025. Heru explained that the judging process was carried out in detail, covering concept, construction, architectural design, financial management, innovation, technology, sustainability, and its impact on the community. “There were so many assessments and they were very, very detailed, right down to the financial reports. They are very, very detailed because the judges are from all over the world,” Heru added. According to Heru, the award also proves that ICON Bali has contributed to revitalising the Sanur area. ICON Bali, he said, has developed into one of the favourite gathering places for the community. Heru said one of the challenges currently faced by ICON Bali is the high interest from brands wanting to enter the Sanur area. He noted that a number of brands are now beginning to see the potential of the Sanur area following the rapid development of tourism and business in the region. “New brands are now all coming and only now seeing that Sanur is truly amazing. So these brands are now starting, they all want to come in,” Heru said. ICON Bali has also provided space for local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). According to Heru, the presence of MSMEs is an important part of the activity in the area. ICON Bali, located in the Sanur area of Denpasar, has a leasable area of around 32,000 square metres and more than 200 tenants. The mall is a favourite destination for local residents as well as domestic and international tourists. Heru revealed that the number of visitors to ICON Bali reaches 30,000 people per day, and can even reach 40,000 visitors on weekends. One of ICON Bali’s attractions is its architectural design inspired by Balinese nature and culture. Various distinctive Balinese elements are translated through contemporary design, along with direct beach access and daily Balinese cultural performances. The FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence-Silver Award is a form of international recognition for ICON Bali’s efforts in defining a culture-based tourism and shopping concept. This also proves that retail development in Indonesia is able to compete and stand on par with various leading projects from around the world. “This achievement does not belong to ICON Bali alone. Therefore, with respect, we dedicate this award as a token of appreciation to the Bali Provincial Government, the Denpasar City Government, and the entire Balinese community who have been part of ICON Bali’s journey and growth until it became internationally recognised,” said Ida Bagus Rai Budarsa, President Commissioner of PT Grha Hatten Duasatu, during the award presentation ceremony at ICON Bali.
