ICMI leadership
ICMI leadership
From Media Indonesia
It is undeniable that under B.J Habibie's leadership the
Association of Moslem Intellectuals of Indonesia (ICMI) has
thrived. He has given a great deal to the development of Islam in
this nation. However, the organization is still in the early
stages of development and much remains to be done.
I share Dawam Rahardjo's idea that no other figure is as
strong as Habibie in his chance to lead Moslem intellectuals. But
I also agree with A.M. Saefuddin, who said that Habibie should
not be nominated in the next congress in December. It would be
better if he focused on state affairs, though this doesn't mean
that he would have to leave ICMI.
The other figure capable of leading ICMI would be Mar'ie
Muhammad.
