ICM Teacher Named Suspect in Child Grooming Case, Immediately Detained
The South Tangerang Police have named a teacher at the Insan Cendekia Madani (ICM) international school in South Tangerang as a suspect in a case involving the abuse of students. The teacher, identified by the initials YN (49), has been immediately detained by the police.
“Regarding the suspect, we have conducted an examination, upgraded their status to suspect, and proceeded with detention as of yesterday,” stated South Tangerang Police Chief, AKBP Boy Jumalolo, to reporters on Friday (2/10/2026).
YN is currently being held at the South Tangerang Police Headquarters undergoing further interrogation. The police are currently investigating the motive and the possibility of other victims.
“For further examination and developments, the investigation process is still ongoing. We are still determining the motive or the background of this case,” said Boy.
So far, the South Tangerang Police have interrogated a total of eight witnesses in this case, including the suspect. YN was officially named a suspect on Thursday (1/10) following a case review by investigators.
ICM Deactivates Teacher
The Insan Cendekia Madani (ICM) administration has spoken out regarding the case, confirming that they have deactivated the teacher suspected of abusing the student.
“ICM states that it has taken administrative action by deactivating a primary school teacher, effective from 25 August 2026,” ICM stated in a written statement received on Saturday (26/9).
ICM explained that this step was taken after receiving and conducting an initial handling of a report regarding alleged sexual abuse of a student on 24 August 2026. The suspension is also an effort to maintain safety and comfort, and to support the ongoing legal process.
“The deactivation was carried out as a precautionary measure to maintain safety, comfort, and a conducive educational environment, and to provide space for the handling and examination process in accordance with applicable legal provisions,” explained ICM.
The alleged abuse is believed to have occurred while the victim was in the fourth grade of primary school. The suspect’s actions allegedly continued until the victim reached the first grade of junior high school.
YN is suspected of using child grooming tactics, manipulating the victim with various inducements. The suspect also allegedly showed pornographic videos to the victim after private Quran recitation lessons.
The perpetrator is also suspected of engaging in physical contact with sensitive areas and attempting to solicit indecent photos, although the victim refused the requests.
