ICDX: Gen Z and Millennials Dominate Digital Gold Trading
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (ICDX) recorded 19.2 million users in the digital physical-gold market through September 2026, with Gen Z and Millennials making up the largest share.
A total of 68 per cent of users came from the two generations: 36 per cent were Millennials and 32 per cent were Gen Z.
“The user composition shows that young people, in this case Gen Z and Millennials, are becoming increasingly open to digital gold investment services. These demographic groups will, of course, represent a large potential market for the development of digital gold,” ICDX Commodity Business Unit Head Zulfal Faradis said in a written statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Millennials are defined as people born between 1981 and 1996, who are currently aged 30–45. Gen Z refers to those born between 1997 and 2012, currently aged 13–29.
He added that their digitally oriented lifestyles, together with the fact that members of these generations are already working and earning their own incomes, make digital gold a long-term investment instrument suited to their way of life.
Population data for the first half of 2026 show that Gen Z is Indonesia’s largest demographic group, with 75.36 million people (25.98 per cent), followed by Millennials, numbering 68.53 million (23.62 per cent).
Generation X accounts for 55.51 million people (19.13 per cent), while Generation Alpha totals 55.41 million (19.10 per cent). Baby Boomers, Gen Beta and the Silent Generation each make up less than 10 per cent of Indonesia’s total population.
