ICDX: Digital Physical Gold Market Transactions Reach 30,000 kg
The Indonesia Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (ICDX) recorded transactions in the digital physical gold market amounting to 30,921,382 grams during the first quarter of 2026. This figure represents a 246% growth compared to the same period in 2025, when total transactions reached 8,941,108 grams.
“The growth in transactions in the first quarter of 2026 demonstrates that digital physical gold trading on the futures exchange is increasingly popular among the public,” said ICDX Director Nursalam, as quoted from Antara on Friday, 17 April 2026. “Based on the trends observed in the first quarter of 2026, we are optimistic that transactions will grow positively by the end of the year,” he added.
Nevertheless, he urged the public to remain cautious regarding various digital gold trading offers circulating on social media. Moving forward, ICDX will continue to collaborate with all stakeholders, including the Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti), to boost transactions by continuously promoting this ecosystem.
Bappebti Head Tirta Karma Senjaya added that the agency will always ensure the availability of physical gold traded within the digital physical gold market trading ecosystem operating in Indonesia. This is an effort to protect the public.
In that ecosystem, he continued, Bappebti as the regulator oversees the exchange as the trading venue, the clearing institution for guaranteeing and settling transactions, and the depository institution that stores the traded physical gold.
It also includes traders and digital physical gold trading intermediaries as organisers that facilitate or channel public transaction orders. “The hope is that this ecosystem will continue to grow and become an alternative investment option for the public,” said Tirta.
Regarding the digital physical gold market, Bappebti data for 2025 recorded a total of 18.7 million customers as investors in that ecosystem. In terms of age groups, young investors dominate with 36.3% in the 25–34 age range and 32.6% in the 18–24 age range.
Based on professional background, students or pupils lead with a total percentage of 35.1%. Furthermore, 94.9% conduct transactions below 1 gram, and 92.6% make transactions valued below Rp 1 million.
