Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesia Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (ICDX) recorded total transactions in the digital physical gold market during the first quarter of 2026 at 30,921,382 grams, marking a 246 percent growth compared to the same period in 2025, which totalled 8,941,108 grams.

“This growth in transactions in the first quarter of 2026 indicates that digital physical gold trading on the futures exchange is increasingly popular among the public,” said ICDX Director Nursalam in a written statement received in Jakarta on Thursday (16/4).

Nevertheless, he advised the public to remain cautious regarding various digital gold trading offers on social media.

Looking ahead, ICDX will continue to collaborate with all stakeholders, including the Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti), to boost transactions by further promoting this ecosystem.

“Given the trends in the first quarter of 2026, we are optimistic that transactions will grow positively by the end of the year,” he stated.

Bappebti Head Tirta Karma Senjaya also affirmed that his agency always ensures the existence of physical gold traded within the digital physical gold market trading ecosystem operating in Indonesia. This is an effort to protect the public.

In that ecosystem, Bappebti as the regulator oversees the exchange as the trading venue, the clearing house for guaranteeing and settling transactions, and the depository institution for storing the traded physical gold, including traders and digital physical gold trading intermediaries as facilitators or channels for public transaction orders.

“It is hoped that this ecosystem will continue to grow and become an alternative investment choice for the public,” Tirta said.

Regarding the digital physical gold market, Bappebti’s 2025 data recorded a total of 18.7 million customers in that ecosystem.

In terms of age groups, young investors dominated with 36.3 percent in the 25-34 age range and 32.6 percent in the 18-24 age range. Based on professional background, students or pupils led with a total percentage of 35.1 percent.

Furthermore, 94.9 percent made transactions below 1 gram, and 92.6 percent conducted transactions valued below Rp1 million.
