ICC to meet in Bangladesh
DHAKA (AFP): The Paris-based International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) is to hold a business conference in Bangladesh next month to explore trade and investment opportunities in Asia, organizers said here Saturday.
"The two-day conference is intended not only to create scope for interaction ... but also to devise an appropriate approach towards the futuristic outlook of the region, particularly in the backdrop of present global economic scenario," Mahbubur Rahman, president of the ICC in Bangladesh, told reporters.
He said oil and gas, information technology and telecoms, foreign direct investment, transportation, e-commerce, and arbitration and dispute settlements would be among the issues to be discussed at the conference.
Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed is expected to inaugurate the "ICC Asia Conference" on November 10, which was themed as "Investment in Developing Countries: Increasing Opportunities."
Some 150 business leaders, high level professionals and executives of multinational companies from Asia as well as Europe are expected to attend the conference, the second since 1995, when a similar even was hosted by India.
