iCAR V23 Embraces Plug-and-Play Concept for Easy Customisation

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The iCAR V23 does not rely solely on its boxy design and electric vehicle technology to attract Indonesian consumers. This adventure-styled electric SUV is instead using a customisation concept as a key weapon to compete in the domestic automotive market.

Chery Group Indonesia President Director Zeng Shuo said the iCAR V23 was designed from the outset to be modification-friendly, even for amateur users. ‘We have already installed many exposed screws. In the rear trunk, there are 10 screws that are left uncovered to make modification easier,’ Zeng said in Jakarta on Saturday, 23 May 2026.

Moreover, iCAR has prepared multiple accessory mounting points from the early development stage of the vehicle. For instance, the roof rack comes with specific mounting points, allowing users to attach accessories without needing additional modifications. ‘If you look at the roof rack, all the mounting points are already prepared, so you just need to install them,’ he added.

This concept is reinforced by the plug-and-play philosophy adopted by the iCAR V23. Wiring for additional accessories, such as extra lights, is already provided by the manufacturer. ‘If you want to add lights, the wiring is ready. It’s very straightforward,’ Zeng said. ‘We want to show that modification isn’t just for professionals. We believe anyone can customise their vehicle,’ he stated.

This personalisation concept sets it apart from most other electric vehicles, which typically come in standard factory forms with limited modification options. The iCAR V23 is equipped with over 20 modular plug-and-play interfaces to support various user-specific accessories.

Alongside customisation flexibility, the V23 retains its adventure SUV character through a boxy design, 210 mm ground clearance, and 600 mm water wading capability. The top variant also features an i-WD system with intelligent drive modes to help the vehicle adapt to different road conditions.

Following its debut at the Indonesia International Motor Show 2026, the V23 is now officially on sale in Indonesia starting at Rp389.9 million.
