WUHU, KOMPAS.com - iCar Indonesia has emphasised that the specifications of models sold and assembled locally in the country will not differ greatly from the Chinese versions. Product Planning Manager of iCar Indonesia, Tommy Hermansyah, stated that the differences are limited to minor adjustments, such as on the exterior. “In product planning, we select which specifications are relevant in Indonesia. So, specs that are less relevant, we remove and replace with suitable ones. Basically, it won’t be much different,” he said on the sidelines of the Chery International Business Summit 2026 in Wuhu, China, on Tuesday (28/4/2026). “So, the differences will likely be small, not too many. From the V23 that we tested and brought to the display unit, it wasn’t much different,” he added. A similar approach will be applied to other models, including the iCar V27, which is planned to be brought to Indonesia at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026. “For the V27, it’s the same; we first look for the specs needed by the Indonesian market, then compare with competitors before determining additional features,” said Tommy. For information, iCar plans to assemble all products to be marketed in Indonesia locally through manufacturing facilities owned by Chery Group’s partners, namely PT Handal Indonesia Motor (HIM) and Inchcape in Wanaherang, Bogor. “All units will be assembled locally, both at Handal and Inchcape. We will adjust to the available production capacity,” said Tommy.
