JAKARTA - Former technology consultant for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), Ibrahim Arief, will face a prosecution hearing for the alleged corruption case involving the procurement of Chromebook-based laptops on Thursday (16/4/2026).

“Thursday, 16 April 2026, Agenda for prosecution,” as quoted from the Central Jakarta District Court Case Search Information System (SIPP PN Jakpus) website on Tuesday (14/4/2026).

Ibrahim Arief is expected to undergo the trial alongside two other defendants, namely former Kemendikbudristek Junior High School Director Mulyatsyah and former Kemendikbudristek Elementary School Director Sri Wahyuningsih.

Based on discussions between the panel of judges and the advocacy teams in previous hearings, all three defendants will have their prosecution hearings on the same day, namely this Thursday.

In this case, Ibrahim, Sri, Mulyatsyah, and former Minister of Education Nadiem Makarim are accused of causing financial losses to the state amounting to Rp 2.1 trillion.

Nadiem himself is accused of enriching himself by Rp 809 billion derived from Google’s investment in Gojek or PT AKAB.

Nadiem is alleged to have abused his authority, making Google the sole dominant player in the procurement of information and communication technology (ICT), including laptops, within Indonesia’s technology ecosystem.

This was done by directing the procurement study towards a single product, namely Chrome-based devices, which are Google products.

For their actions, Nadiem and the other defendants face charges under Article 2 Paragraph (1) and Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law No. 31 of 1999 as amended and supplemented by Law No. 20 of 2001 on the Eradication of Corruption Crimes, in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) first of the Criminal Code.
