IBC Chief Guarantees Indonesia's EV Battery Plant Ready for Operation in 2026

The electric vehicle battery plant PT Contemporary Amperex Technology Indonesia (CATIB) in Karawang, West Java, is preparing to commence operations in 2026. Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC) President Director Aditya Farhan Arif stated that CATIB, a joint venture between IBC and CATL, will begin production with an initial capacity of 6.9 Gigawatt-Hour (GWh) and will expand to 15 GWh. CATIB is expected to become the backbone of an integrated electric battery supply chain ecosystem in Indonesia, with its 15 GWh battery production equivalent to the needs of 250,000 electric vehicle units.
