Ibas Urges PD Cadres to Strengthen Silaturahmi, Mutual Cooperation, and Community Assistance

Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI and Chairman of the Democratic Party (PD) Faction in the DPR RI, Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono (Ibas), emphasised that Ramadan teaches that the strength of this nation lies in silaturahmi and togetherness.

During the month of Ramadan, the people’s representative from the East Java VII electoral district has carried out various activities as part of the Ramadan Safari. These activities include reviewing the Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance (BSPS) programme, inspecting irrigation programmes, workshops and training related to the creative economy, ensuring the SPPG kitchen operates optimally in every region, engaging in silaturahmi with kyai and ulama, and organising a free homecoming programme for the community.

Furthermore, Ibas stressed the meaning of Ramadan as a momentum to strengthen values of togetherness and social care.

“Ramadan is a month full of wisdom, forgiveness, and blessings. In this month, we learn to remain patient, sincere, and caring. Ramadan teaches us that the strength of this nation is silaturahmi and togetherness,” said Ibas in his statement on Thursday (19/3/2026).

This was conveyed during his silaturahmi with the community in East Java’s VII electoral district in the ‘Ramadan Demokrat Peduli dan Berbagi’ activity held virtually via Zoom on Wednesday (18/3).

He added that the nation’s strength also lies in the spirit of gotong royong and helping one another. According to him, social activities and silaturahmi like this are tangible manifestations of the Democratic Party’s presence among the people.

Raising the theme of the previous Ramadan Safari, ‘Ramadan Religi Menguatkan Negeri’, Ibas reaffirmed the Democratic Party’s commitment to always be present and provide real benefits to the people.

“This is proof that Demokrat is present, caring, and sharing. Demokrat does not stay silent; it goes directly down, greets directly to ease the burden on the community. This is a tangible embodiment of love for the homeland, not just words but real deeds,” he asserted.

Ibas also reminded all Democratic Party cadres to remain solid and close to the community.

“All cadres, whether DPC, PAC, or branches, are the spearhead and face of the Democratic Party among the people. They must remain compact and close to the community. Heavy burdens shared, light ones carried together,” was his message.

In addition, he emphasised that the Democratic Party must always be present, not only in easy situations but also when the community faces difficulties.

“PD must always be present among the people, listening, seeing, and providing real solutions,” he continued.

In the context of political service, Ibas recalled the message of the 6th President of RI, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), that the Democratic Party must be a clean, intelligent, and caring party.

“Politics is about service, about opening paths to help the people. The best human is the one most beneficial to others; life is to illuminate, make our benefits a light for others,” he stated.

Closing his remarks, Ibas invited all cadres and the community to continue uniting and moving together.

“Demokrat is always with the people in any condition. Let us unite, move together with the community, do not leave the people. The people are the strength of PD. If sincere, the people will trust; if consistent, the people will be loyal. Not just visible, but must have impact,” he concluded.

Furthermore, on that occasion, the Chairman of the DPC Democratic Party of Pacitan Regency, who is also the Regent of Pacitan, Indrata Nur Bayuaji, expressed appreciation for Ibas’s unwavering concern for the community in his electoral district.

“Thank you for Mas Ibas’s concern that never wanes. At the end of this Ramadan month, Mas Ibas continues to set an example for us all to keep caring for the community. We want to convey our longing greetings to Mas Ibas, hopefully we can meet directly soon in the electoral district,” he said.

In that activity, aid was also distributed to the attending community as a form of social care during the holy month of Ramadan.

The event was also filled with a lecture by Ustaz H. Meky Hasan from the Nurul Hikam Islamic Boarding School, Ponorogo. In his sermon, he emphasised the importance of silaturahmi in building togetherness, communication, and Islamic brotherhood.

“Insya Allah, with silaturahmi, our lifespan is extended, sustenance is added. Togetherness and compactness will build love for one another,” he said.

He also reminded the importance of preparing provisions for life through silaturahmi, knowledge, and good deeds to achieve a good end.

The activity was then closed with a collective prayer for the welfare of the Indonesian nation and blessings for Ibas and the Democratic Party. In the prayer, hopes were raised that Ibas would become an trustworthy leader and a role model for the community, and that the Democratic Party would always be blessed in carrying out its mandate for the progress of the nation.

For information, this activity was attended by hundreds of people from various villages in Magetan, Ngawi, Pacitan, and Ponorogo Regencies, as well as Democratic Party cadres from DPC Chairmen, PAC, to branches.
