Ibas Receives KWP Awards 2026, Urges Strengthening of Village Economies
Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI, Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono (Ibas), received the KWP Awards 2026 for his concern for public welfare and village economic development. The award was also given to the Democrat Party Faction for its contributions to maintaining economic stability and public welfare.
Ibas expressed gratitude and thanks for the award given. He considered this appreciation not solely for himself, but also for the entire Democrat Party Faction and stakeholders who continue to work together to champion public welfare.
“This award is an honour and a reminder that our efforts must continue to side with the people, especially in strengthening village economies, opening business opportunities, and ensuring more equitable welfare,” said Ibas in his statement on Thursday (16/4/2026).
For the Deputy General Chairman of the Democrat Party, village economic development is an important foundation for national progress. He is committed to continuing to promote pro-people policies, strengthening MSMEs, and creating inclusive and sustainable economic stability. According to him, villages are not merely objects of development, but primary subjects with great potential in driving Indonesia’s economy.
This graduate of an S2 from NTU Singapore and S3 from IPB University also conveyed deep appreciation to the Koordinat Wartawan Parlemen for their strategic role in overseeing parliamentary performance through critical, objective, and constructive journalistic work.
According to him, the existence of parliamentary journalists is not only as information conveyors, but also as partners in democracy that help ensure transparency, accountability, and closeness between people’s representatives and the wider public.
“Thank you for the dedication of media colleagues who continue to serve as bridges of information and reminders for us to stay on the right path,” he said.
Furthermore, this member of the East Java VII electoral district hopes that this award can become positive energy to strengthen synergy between legislative institutions, government, and society in delivering impactful policies.
Ibas emphasised the importance of cross-sector collaboration to address economic challenges, from strengthening villages, empowering farmers and fishermen, to developing the creative economy sector that is adaptive to the times.
“We must move together, ensuring that every policy is not only good on paper, but also directly felt by the people,” he added.
Ibas also reaffirmed his commitment to continue promoting budget allocations and development programmes that reach grassroots communities. For Ibas, public welfare must be the primary measure of development success, including ensuring access to education, health, and fair and equitable economic opportunities. He believes that with a focus on inclusive development, Indonesia can grow stronger and more competitive.
Closing his statement, Ibas expressed his hope that this award does not become an endpoint, but the beginning of greater responsibility. He invited all elements of the nation to continue maintaining the spirit of mutual cooperation and optimism in building Indonesia.
“Let us make this award a reminder that there is still much work to be done together. With hard work, unity, and good intentions, we can bring about a more prosperous and just Indonesia,” he concluded.
