Jakarta, VIVA – Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono, Vice-Chair of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR RI), commonly known as Ibas, conducted a constituency visit to Carat Village in Ponorogo to oversee and provide support for the BSPS (Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance) programme, aimed at delivering decent housing, promoting healthy living, and fostering productive families.

During the visit, Ibas stressed the importance of adequate housing as a foundation for community welfare, healthy living as a driver for positive change, and productive families as the key to village development.

“The BSPS programme is a concrete effort to strengthen the quality of life of the community. Decent housing is not merely a physical matter, but also a symbol of a better future for families,” Ibas stated in a written statement released on Sunday, 1 March 2026.

He also emphasised the challenges that remain, such as budget limitations and programme implementation that requires more intensive oversight. However, with synergy among all stakeholders, Carat Village has the potential to become an example of a prosperous and advanced community.

“The Democratic Faction will continue to support this programme and ensure that assistance reaches those who need it,” he said.

In addition to inspecting homes of aid recipients, Ibas also received community aspirations regarding village public facilities, including the need to renovate the community meeting hall for optimal use.

“Inshallah, we will assist with the renovation of the community meeting hall so it can be used effectively for community activities, sports, and other social initiatives, benefiting everyone,” he said.

This constituency visit affirmed that the development of decent housing and family empowerment in villages is not merely a physical programme, but part of a broader strategy to enhance social welfare, economic development, and community resilience in Ponorogo.
