Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono (Ibas) inspected the Kawu Nutritional Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG), Kedunggalar District, Ngawi Regency, East Java. The visit aimed to assess the readiness of facilities, operational mechanisms, and processes for providing nutritious meals to students.

He stressed that the nutrition fulfilment programme must continue to operate optimally and transparently whilst maintaining service quality, even during the holy month of Ramadan.

“I am here directly to ensure that the nutrition fulfilment programme truly operates well in the field, especially during Ramadan, so that children’s nutritional needs remain met without reducing quality or portions,” said Ibas on Friday, 27 February 2026.

During the visit, Ibas met directly with SPPG Kawu Head Agus Wijayanto and management staff to hear firsthand about the facilitating factors and challenges encountered during programme implementation.

Ibas also reviewed the entire operational process, from food material reception, ingredient sorting, kitchen preparation, to serving special Ramadan menus.

According to Ibas, implementing the nutrition fulfilment programme exemplifies government policy that delivers broad benefits to society.

“This programme does not merely provide free meals, but ensures our children’s nutritional balance is met so they can grow into a healthy and superior generation,” said Ibas.

He considered the SPPG’s existence important in efforts to build human resource quality from an early stage.

Therefore, as a representative of the people at the central level, Ibas stressed his commitment to continuing to oversee the programme’s sustainability.

“We at the centre will continue to encourage the entire programme’s implementation to run as well as possible and provide tangible benefits to society,” Ibas asserted.

Ibas also expressed appreciation to all SPPG workers, praising their disciplined execution of duties according to operational standards, including ensuring food portions matched beneficiaries’ nutritional needs.

“I appreciate SPPG workers who have worked with discipline and full responsibility in ensuring each food portion meets nutritional standards,” said Ibas.

Ibas also reminded of the importance of integrity in implementing the nutrition fulfilment programme so the government’s noble objective could be achieved maximally without deviation.

“Nutrition fulfilment must be implemented properly and honestly. There must be no cheating, because this concerns the future of Indonesian children,” said Ibas.

When reviewing the kitchen area, Ibas specifically paid attention to the food ingredient sorting process and emphasised the importance of quality and cleanliness of raw materials used.

“If food materials are found that are not fresh or unfit for consumption, it must be ensured they are not used. All materials must be hygienic and genuinely fresh,” Ibas advised.

The inspection also covered supervision of the food safety inspection mechanism for incoming materials to ensure food safety standards remained maintained during the production process.

Through this visit, Ibas hoped the SPPG in Ngawi Regency could serve as an example of professional, accountable, and sustainable nutrition fulfilment programme implementation in supporting the creation of a healthy and quality Indonesian generation.
