Ibas Ensures Home Renovation Programme in Carat Village, Ponorogo Reaches Correct Targets
Deputy Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia and Chairman of the Democratic Party Faction of the House of Representatives, Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono (Ibas), conducted a recess visit to Carat Village, Ponorogo Regency, on Saturday, 28 February 2026. The visit aimed to ensure the effectiveness of the Self-Help Housing Support Stimulus Programme (BSPS) in creating adequate housing for communities in remote villages.
Ibas emphasised that the availability of housing meeting health standards is not merely physical construction, but rather a fundamental foundation for family productivity.
“The BSPS programme is a concrete effort to strengthen community quality of life. Adequate housing is not just about physical structure, but also a symbol of a better future for families,” said Ibas in a statement issued on Sunday, 1 March 2026.
In dialogue with residents, Ibas acknowledged significant challenges in implementing the self-help housing renovation programme, particularly regarding budget limitations and the need for intensive oversight. He assured that the Democratic Party faction would continue to monitor the programme to ensure assistance reaches the correct targets and reaches those who genuinely need it.
“Our hope is that Carat Village can become an example of a village that is advanced, independent, and prosperous. All of this can be achieved if mutual cooperation and shared commitment are carried out properly,” said the legislator from East Java’s seventh electoral district.
Beyond reviewing housing improvement progress, Ibas also responded to community aspirations regarding village infrastructure. He expressed his commitment to assisting with improvements to Carat Village’s community meeting hall so it can function optimally as a centre for social and sports activities.
“God willing, improvements to the meeting hall will be supported so it can function properly and its benefits can be felt collectively by the entire community,” he added.
The inspection was accompanied by regional leadership, including Ponorogo Military District Commander Lieutenant Colonel Farauk Saputra, Ponorogo Police Chief Senior Commissioner Andin Wisnu Sudibyo, Kauman District Head Toni Khristiawan, and several members of Ponorogo Regency’s Regional House of Representatives.
Ibas’s presence was warmly welcomed by programme beneficiaries, including Boniran, a local resident who received housing renovation assistance. Through the Ramadan moment, Ibas invited the community to strengthen solidarity and mutual cooperation in building economic resilience at village level.
