Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono, also known as Ibas, the chairman of the Democratic Party faction in the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), has asserted that the party must continuously strengthen its service to the community to support national development and realise public welfare. He made the remarks during the second wave of the National Technical Guidance event for Democratic Party members of provincial and district/city Regional Legislative Councils (DPRD) from across Indonesia, held at the SBY-Ani Museum and Gallery in Pacitan, East Java. Ibas stated that the theme ‘Only The Strong’ is not merely a slogan, but a spirit for all cadres to enhance their dedication to the people. He emphasised that party cadres must be part of the development process and ensure that its benefits are felt by the community, aligning with the nation’s goals and the party’s ideals. Reflecting on the party’s journey, he noted that the Democrats have been part of the government, served as a critical partner, and now support the current administration, stressing the importance of remaining consistent in fighting for the people. He also called on all Democratic Party members in regional legislatures to support party cadres entrusted with government positions and to help ensure the success of President Prabowo Subianto’s programmes. Ibas urged all cadres to uphold integrity, enhance their capabilities, and maintain decorum in carrying out their duties as people’s representatives. He reminded them to be aspirational, noting that without the people’s vote, they would not be members of the DPR, and therefore they must fight for the people’s aspirations and assist them through tangible work.
