IATPI and Inkindo Jakarta Collaborate to Enhance Consultant Quality
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Association of Environmental and Sanitary Engineering (IATPI) is collaborating with the Indonesian National Consultants Association (Inkindo) of Jakarta to enhance the quality of consultants.
IATPI General Chairman Endra Saleh Atmawidjaja emphasised that this cooperation serves as a momentum to align consultant competency standards with market needs, spanning both the government and private sectors.
“This is a good opportunity to build a mutual understanding regarding the importance of improving the quality of consultants, particularly those with environmental engineering backgrounds. We recognise that the demand for professional services in the environmental engineering field absorbed by consultants has shown an increase year after year,” Endra stated in Jakarta on Thursday.
He added that the association’s primary focus is not merely to meet the quantity of experts required for increasing project demands, but also to ensure the quality of the experts working in the field is continuously improved.
“Therefore, today we are signing a memorandum of understanding to commit to providing experts who are more capable of meeting the expectations of owners,” said Endra.
As the demand for environmental engineering consultancy services continues to surge, IATPI and Inkindo Jakarta have officially agreed on a strategic partnership. This collaboration, formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), focuses on improving the human resource quality of consultants in the fields of environmental and sanitary engineering to address increasingly complex and dynamic industry challenges.
The scope of this cooperation is broad, targeting various vital sectors, including clean water supply, waste management, wastewater distribution, drainage, and the preparation of environmental documents such as AMDAL (Environmental Impact Assessment) and KLHS (Strategic Environmental Assessment).
To realise these goals, both parties are preparing a series of parallel agendas, ranging from technical training and the preparation of strategic studies to the exchange of resource persons and the facilitation of work competency certification through the IATPI Environmental Engineering Professional Certification Body (LSP).
Furthermore, the collaboration is set to launch flagship strategic programmes, including the INKINDO–IATPI Environmental Consulting Academy, an ESG Programme, the Young Environmental Consultant Initiative, and an Urban Resilience Forum. This initiative will also strengthen member capacity in applying Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and addressing issues related to climate change and urban sanitation.
Recognising the potential success in Jakarta, IATPI is prepared to expand this collaboration to a broader level.
“Since this is currently only with Inkindo Jakarta, we need to look more broadly in the future, particularly with the central Inkindo office, which we will also explore for other provinces,” said Endra.
