IATA handles Garuda ticket sales

JAKARTA: The national flag-carrying airline, Garuda Indonesia, said on Tuesday it had transferred its domestic ticket sales mechanism to the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Garuda spokesman Pujobroto said the new policy would enable Garuda to focus on its airline business.

"Under the new system, we shall no longer issue or distribute domestic tickets to our agents. IATA will take care of it," he said.

He added that at present, about 80 of 520 Garuda domestic agents had already adopted the IATA mechanism.

He said Garuda expected all agents to have adopted the IATA system by November.
