The Indonesia Anti-Scam Centre (IASC) received at least 608,168 reports of suspected online fraud or scams between November 2024 and June 2026. The agency, which operates under the Financial Services Authority’s (OJK) Task Force for the Eradication of Illegal Financial Activities (Satgas PASTI), has blocked 557,751 accounts suspected of being involved in fraudulent activities.

‘Funds amounting to Rp 674 billion have been successfully secured,’ said OJK Board of Commissioners Chairperson Friderica Widyasari Dewi after attending a Seminar on Scams in Central Jakarta on Monday, 6 July 2026.

Friderica stated that the value of the funds successfully saved reached Rp 674.1 billion as a result of rapid account blocking by banks and financial institutions that are members of the IASC. According to her, of that amount, Rp 196.93 billion has been returned to victims, while approximately Rp 477.17 billion is still in the process of being resolved.

She noted that from an anti-money laundering perspective, online fraud depends on various fund transfer channels, not just bank accounts. Payment channels, merchants and sub-merchants, virtual assets, and cross-border networks are often used to hide the perpetrators’ identities, obscure the origin of funds, and complicate the tracking of illegal financial transactions.

Nevertheless, the value of the funds successfully saved is still far smaller than the total losses suffered by the public due to scams. Satgas PASTI Chairman Rizal Ramadhani stated that total losses from online fraud reached Rp 9.3 trillion during the period from November 2024 to May 2026. The data presented by Friderica covered the period up to June 2026. ‘Rp 9.3 trillion from 2024 to May 2026. The data from Mrs Friderica earlier was up to June,’ Rizal said.

Compared to the total losses, the funds successfully saved by the IASC represent only about 7.24 percent. Rizal said the low recovery rate is due to many victims reporting fraud cases late to the IASC, the OJK, or Satgas PASTI. The slower the report is received, the slower the IASC can take action, including blocking accounts linked to the fraud, thus reducing the chances of saving the victims’ funds.

For this reason, according to Rizal, Satgas PASTI and IASC are building a system that allows the public to submit reports more quickly so that cases can be handled immediately and the chances of recovering victims’ funds increase.
