IAEA says access to Iran's nuclear facilities depends on US-Iran talks

Moscow (ANTARA) - Access to Iran’s nuclear facilities by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) depends on negotiations between the United States and Iran, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossito RIA Novosti.

“Up to this point, such access has not been possible. However, I think we need to recognise the fact that this is, I can say, connected to or dependent in a certain sense, even unofficially, but in reality, this is what is happening, influenced… by the ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran regarding the Memorandum of Understanding,” said Grossi.

Previously, on 18 June 2026, Iran and the United States signed a memorandum remotely, which guaranteed the end of military conflict since 28 February.

The document also established a deadline for the US to lift its naval blockade of Iranian ports and for Iran to restore shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Following US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities in June 2025, Iran has limited cooperation with the IAEA and access to nuclear facilities, stating that all decisions regarding interaction with the organisation are made by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
