IAEA: Iran's Bushehr Nuclear Site Undamaged
The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, stated that the damage to the Bushehr nuclear site in Iran appears not to be very significant and that the attack on the facility may have hit a small building containing a laboratory. Grossi told reporters that the IAEA had received information about the incident from Iran and Russia indicating that Bushehr was struck by a drone. He said the drone did not hit the power plant itself but landed in the area. “The reactors were not affected and there were no casualties,” he said, adding that his agency had not yet been able to independently confirm the damage. “At the same time, any attack on any nuclear facility must always be avoided.” At the same time, he affirmed that Tehran has enriched uranium to 60% purity, a level far exceeding civilian energy needs. The Chernobyl reactor shield in Ukraine was damaged by a drone attack last February. The IAEA warned that the shield can no longer function as a protector. Iran’s Supreme National Security Council announced the cessation of cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). As Israel intensively bombards various Iranian nuclear facilities in the latest escalation, the world is once again turning its attention to Israel’s secret nuclear programme, Dimona. The United States does not accept the policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has officially severed nuclear cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Iran denies reports that Mojtaba Khamenei was evacuated to Russia for medical treatment. Meanwhile, senior official Ali Larijani has been confirmed dead due to an Israeli attack. Russia expands military cooperation with Iran, providing real-time satellite imagery and advanced Shahed drone technology to target US military positions. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia stated that the Indonesian government is opening options to import crude oil from Russia. The Russian tanker Arctic Metagaz is adrift without crew after a drone attack. Carrying 60,000 tons of gas, Italy calls it a ‘ticking time bomb’.
