St. Petersburg (ANTARA) - International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said on Friday (10/7) that an attack on any nuclear power plant is unacceptable, regardless of where the facility is located. Speaking after holding talks with Rosatom Director General Alexei Likhachev in Kaliningrad, Russia, Grossi said the IAEA has not observed or confirmed a direct attack on the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran. Grossi also called on all parties to exercise maximum restraint. Grossi stated that the IAEA, like Rosatom, continues to closely monitor developments at the facility. “The physical integrity of any nuclear facility is an absolute priority for nuclear safety and security,” Grossi said. He reaffirmed that any action affecting that integrity is “completely unacceptable”. The IAEA’s position on the matter is clear and has been consistently discussed, both in the UN Security Council and the IAEA Board of Governors, Grossi said.
