The Indonesian Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (IABEE) of the Institution of Engineers Indonesia (PII) has obtained international recognition at the International Engineering Alliance Meetings (IEAM) 2026 in South Africa. PII Secretary General Teguh Haryono stated that the body under PII’s auspices, which carries out the accreditation function for higher education in engineering in Indonesia, has been granted Provisional Signatory status for the Sydney Accord and Provisional Signatory status for the Dublin Accord. “This achievement expands international recognition of Indonesia’s engineering education accreditation system. This accomplishment is the result of joint efforts by various stakeholders in building a quality assurance system for engineering education that is credible, transparent, and aligned with international standards,” Teguh said in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Sunday. He explained that the Dublin Accord focuses on the recognition of educational programmes for engineering technicians. Both accords, he continued, are part of an international recognition framework that supports the equivalence of engineering education quality across countries. “The Provisional Signatory status for the Sydney Accord and Dublin Accord demonstrates that the accreditation system developed by Indonesia has gained recognition and trust from the international community,” he said. He views this achievement as providing strategic benefits for universities, students, graduates, and national industry. He also believes that the increasingly broad international recognition of IABEE-accredited programmes will open greater opportunities for academic collaboration, professional mobility, and enhancing the competitiveness of Indonesian graduates at the global level.
