I received a statement showing the balance of my old age
pension from Jamsostek (Workers' Social Security scheme) for 11
years on it, but only this year have I received two statements
with a discrepancy amounting to some Rp 700,000.

As the statement is a computer printout, it has never occurred
to me that it may contain a mistake in which the annual
contribution fee reported was lower than the amount deducted from
my monthly salary. A friend of mine found this mistake and
complained about it to the personnel department of our company.

Close examination by our personnel department found that this
difference was on all the statements of balance in our company.
Our company complained about this to Jamsostek and received
corrected statements.

If a similar mistake is also found in other companies across
the country, the discrepancy may amount to trillions of rupiah.
How many workers bother to calculate their contribution fees for
this security program in a year? Where has the money gone to
then?

Please check the balance of your workers' social security and
ensure that their rights have not been robbed by anyone.
