Hyundai's Market Share Reaches 2.8 Percent as of March 2026
Hyundai Motors Indonesia claims its market share has reached 2.8 percent as of March 2026 from total car sales in Indonesia. Chief After Sales Officer of PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia, Nina Violenty, stated that this figure is an increase from 2.5 percent at the beginning of the year. “Moreover, there was Lebaran recently, so our units and models were highly sought after by customers to support mudik,” she said when met at Hyundai’s office in Jakarta on Thursday, 16 April 2026. Nina stated that sales are supported by the Stargazer model, which contributes 50 percent. This six-passenger vehicle, including the driver, targets urban consumers for daily mobility and even as a choice for mudik trips. Overall, Nina said, Hyundai’s sales in the first three months of 2026 remain stable. The same applies to electric vehicle sales, which continue to compete with brands from China such as BYD and others. “Our electric vehicles are also quite aligned with market demand at 15 percent. So far, Hyundai remains stable,” she added. According to data from the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo), Hyundai’s wholesale sales (from manufacturers to dealers) amounted to 1,423 units in January, 1,744 units in February, and 1,615 units in March this year. The most popular models are the Stargazer X and Cartenz types, Creta FL and N Line, and Kona EV. Additionally, they are supported by models such as Palisade, Santa Fe, Ioniq 5, and Tucson. This year’s sales trends also show ups and downs overall. Gaikindo recorded wholesale from all brands at 66,500 units in January, 81,250 units in February, and 61,271 units in March.
