Hyundai wins order from BP

SEOUL: Hyundai Heavy Industries, the world's largest
shipbuilder, said on Thursday it has secured a US$1.5 billion
order to build eight liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers for BP
Shipping.

The South Korean shipyard said the deal with the British
company was the most valuable single contract ever in the
shipbuilding industry.

Hyundai Heavy Industries said it would construct five of the
eight LNG carriers while its affiliate Hyundai Samho Heavy
Industries would build the remaining three.

The delivery of the vessels is to begin from mid-2007, it
