Hyundai Tucson and Venue Sales Low, Company Claims Not Chasing Volume
JAKARTA – Sales of the Hyundai Tucson and Venue in Indonesia remain low. However, PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) asserts that this is not due to lack of demand, but rather part of the company’s strategy that does not focus on volume. Chief Operating Officer of HMID, Fransiscus Soerjopranoto, stated that Hyundai is not targeting market dominance, but instead aims to offer a complete product line, particularly in the SUV segment. He explained that the presence of these two models is intended to complete Hyundai’s SUV lineup across various segments, from upper class to entry level. “By adding the Tucson and Venue, our lineup ranges from the top Palisade to the A segment, namely the Venue, making it complete,” he said. Based on data from the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo), sales of the Hyundai Venue throughout 2025 totalled 32 units. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Tucson recorded 92 units in 2025 and 83 units in 2024. Although the volume is not yet significant, Hyundai views the presence of the Tucson and Venue as an important part of its strategy to strengthen its SUV portfolio in Indonesia, rather than solely chasing sales figures.
