PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) will launch four new models simultaneously at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026, with one of the main highlights being a seven-seater electric MPV produced domestically. Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Motors Indonesia, Fransiscus Soerjopranoto, said the company will also display a total of 14 vehicles in the exhibition area. “This time we have prepared 14 vehicles to display, and there will be four new models we introduce, in the SUV EV, MPV EV, MPV Hybrid classes, and the newest 7-seater EV from Hyundai, made in Indonesia,” said Fransiscus during a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday. Although he has not revealed the entire new model line-up, Fransiscus mentioned that one of the new models to be launched among the four is the Ioniq 9, a large electric SUV first introduced in Indonesia last March. “There is a hybrid SUV and an electric SUV. Then there is also a hybrid MPV and an EV, but the most special is the 7-seater EV produced domestically in Indonesia. So just wait, there will be a surprise during GIIAS,” he said. Fransiscus stated that the electric hatchback was brought in to gauge the response of the Indonesian market before considering further steps. “The Ioniq 3 is a special edition; we are currently assessing public interest in Indonesia. If it is good, we will consider bringing it into Indonesia. But once again, this vehicle has received a very positive response, especially as it went viral, and we hope that this vehicle can circulate on Indonesian roads,” he added. On the same occasion, Hyundai also prepared a sales programme offering discounts of up to Rp50 million for consumers who purchase the Stargazer Cartenz during the exhibition.
