Hyundai has introduced a seven-passenger prototype vehicle inspired by the name Banda Neira from Maluku Province. Fransiscus Soerjopranoto, Chief Operating Officer of PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia, stated that the local content level (TKDN) for the product is already predominantly local. “I can confirm the TKDN will be above 60 per cent, and we aim to reach approximately 80 per cent,” he said during an appearance at the Hyundai booth in ICE BSD City, Tangerang, on Wednesday, 29 July 2026.

The electric vehicle, named Neira, has been on display since Wednesday, one day prior to the opening of the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026. The vehicle was introduced directly by Kenny Lee, President Director of Hyundai Motors Indonesia, during a brief presentation. According to Fransiscus, the Neira is intended to be a future EV model for Hyundai, and the displayed prototype is finalised in terms of design.

However, the Neira is only on display for a limited period on 29 and 30 July. As it remains a prototype, there is no confirmed date for when orders can be placed. “It is not yet possible to order,” he noted.

Observations indicate that the vehicle is designed for daily use and is suitable for urban mobility. The cabin features a combination of black and cream-white colours, including the steering wheel. The second row consists of two large seats by the doors and one smaller seat in the middle, while the third row contains two smaller seats.

Kenny Lee, President Director of Hyundai Motors Indonesia, stated that this prototype will continue to be refined and developed to better suit the needs and lifestyles of the Indonesian people. “We hope that Neira will play a meaningful role in accelerating Indonesia’s transition towards electrification,” he said.
