Jakarta (ANTARA) - Hyundai Motor Company recorded the highest first-quarter revenue in the company’s history of 45.94 trillion won (Rp544.19 trillion) for 2026, up 3.4 percent from the same period last year, supported by strong sales of hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) and high-value electrified models. In the performance report announced via press release on Thursday, Hyundai stated that sales of electrified vehicles continued to rise amid challenging global demand. Hyundai’s electrified vehicle sales in the first quarter increased 14.2 percent to 242,612 units, consisting of 58,788 EV units and 173,977 HEV units. Electrified vehicles now contribute 24.9 percent of Hyundai’s total global sales, while the HEV contribution reaches 17.8 percent. Both achievements represent the highest quarterly records in the company’s history. Globally, Hyundai’s wholesale sales for the January-March 2026 period reached 976,219 units, down 2.5 percent from last year due to slowing global demand and geopolitical uncertainties. However, Hyundai’s global market share increased from 4.6 percent to 4.9 percent. Meanwhile, sales outside Korea fell 2.1 percent to 817,153 units, and domestic sales in Korea dropped 4.4 percent to 159,066 units ahead of the launch of several major new models in 2026.
