Hyundai Santa Fe Crashes into Jusuf Kalla's Residence in Brawijaya

Jakarta, VIVA – The quiet of the early morning hours in the Brawijaya neighbourhood, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, was suddenly shattered when a Hyundai Santa Fe crashed into the fence of the residence belonging to Indonesia’s 10th and 12th Vice President, Jusuf Kalla, on Wednesday, 18 February 2026.

The incident occurred at approximately 03:30 local time, when most residents were still asleep. The loud impact from the front of the prominent national figure’s home drew attention from the surrounding area.

Police confirmed the incident. The Head of Public Relations at the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Murodih, stated that the accident report was received shortly after the event.

“It is true that we received information about the incident involving the crashing into the house’s fence,” Murodih said when contacted for confirmation.

Based on initial investigations, the vehicle was driven by a woman with the initials HP, aged 35. The preliminary suspicion is that the driver lost concentration due to drowsiness.

“It is still being investigated further. However, based on the information available, it was due to drowsiness. The incident occurred at 03:30 local time,” he said.

Fortunately, the incident did not result in any casualties. The vehicle that struck the fence has since been evacuated from the scene.

Police said the driver had shown good faith by agreeing to take responsibility for the damage caused. She even surrendered her vehicle registration certificate as a guarantee.

“Yes, there are plans for mediation regarding the repair of the damage at the location,” said Murodih.

As of now, police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the single-vehicle accident.
