Hyundai Hands Over 11 County EV Buses for Bali Transport
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Hyundai Indonesia has handed over 11 Hyundai County EV electric buses, developed in collaboration with local coachbuilder Laksana, as part of efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from Bali’s transport sector.
Chul Youn Park, senior vice-president and head of Hyundai Motor Company’s Global Commercial Vehicle and Light Commercial Vehicle Business Division, said the company was proud to support Bali’s transition to a more sustainable transport system by supplying electric buses.
“With our global experience and growing presence in Indonesia, we are committed to expanding our electric commercial vehicle business in cities and regions across Indonesia,” Chul Youn Park said in an official statement on Friday.
Under the collaboration, Hyundai Motor Company provides the electric vehicle platform, while Laksana develops and manufactures the bus body. The partnership also demonstrates the involvement of local industry in developing electric commercial vehicles.
Actual driving range may be affected by road conditions, passenger load, air-conditioning use and driving patterns. As a result, charging infrastructure readiness and operational management are important factors in deploying electric fleets for public transport.
The Bali E-Mobility programme follows a memorandum of understanding agreed by the Indonesian and South Korean governments in 2025 to promote the transformation of transport in Bali towards electric mobility.
In addition to handing over the vehicles, Hyundai will carry out a field-monitoring programme for the electric buses, including setting up a monitoring centre to assess vehicle condition and operational performance once the fleet enters service.
Hyundai previously supplied County EV buses for public transport in Surabaya in November 2024.
The handover in Bali marks a further step in deploying electric buses in regional areas. The next challenge will be ensuring vehicle reliability and adequate supporting infrastructure for day-to-day operations.
