Hyundai Confirms Ioniq 3 Launch at GIIAS 2026
PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) has confirmed it will launch the new Ioniq 3 electric vehicle at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026, taking place from 29 July to 9 August at ICE BSD, Tangerang. The introduction of the Ioniq 3 is part of Hyundai’s strategy to broaden its electrified vehicle range in Indonesia. Alongside this model, the company will also showcase a prototype seven-seater electric vehicle produced in Indonesia and introduce several new models in the SUV and MPV segments with both hybrid and fully electric powertrain options.
President Director of PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia, Kenny Lee, stated that Indonesia is one of the most important markets for Hyundai, prompting the company to continuously expand its vehicle options to meet consumer needs. ‘Hyundai is in a unique position because it can offer the most comprehensive powertrain choices. We believe the benefits of mobility should be enjoyed by everyone. GIIAS 2026 is our momentum to present the most attractive electric vehicle line-up while introducing new models that broaden the choices for Indonesian consumers,’ said Kenny on Thursday (2/7/2026).
Hyundai is adopting the theme ‘Bringing Meaningful Innovation, Definitely Can’ at GIIAS 2026. In addition to the Ioniq 3, the South Korean manufacturer will present a new electric SUV, an MPV with hybrid and fully electric options, and a hybrid SUV to complete its portfolio of internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), and battery electric vehicle (BEV) models.
Chief Operating Officer of PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia, Fransiscus Soerjopranoto, said this strategy demonstrates Hyundai’s commitment to providing a complete range of technology choices for the Indonesian market. ‘We are presenting a balanced powertrain selection, from ICE and HEV to EV, so consumers can choose a vehicle that truly suits their needs,’ said Fransiscus. He added that Hyundai continues to strengthen its electrification investment in Indonesia through local electric vehicle production, ensuring the innovations delivered have a positive impact on the development of the national automotive industry.
The launch of the Ioniq 3 comes amid a positive sales trend for Hyundai in the first half of 2026. The Hyundai Stargazer recorded 10.8 percent year-on-year sales growth in the B-MPV segment, while the Palisade continues to lead the E-F SUV segment. The KONA Electric recorded the highest sales growth among Hyundai’s battery electric vehicle line-up. Beyond preparing new products, Hyundai is also using GIIAS 2026 to strengthen its Hyundai Cup 2026 campaign, the ASEAN football tournament known as the AFF Cup. Throughout July 2026, Hyundai is offering various sales programmes, including consumer benefits of up to IDR 50 million for purchases of the Stargazer Cartenz and Stargazer Cartenz X, as well as various financing and after-sales service programmes. With the launch of the Ioniq 3 and the addition of other electrified models, Hyundai is reinforcing its ambition to maintain its position as a key player in Indonesia’s electric vehicle market ahead of expected fiercer competition in the second half of 2026.
