Hypertension might be fatal
Hypertension might be fatal
From Suara Karya
Indonesia's hypertension cases are increasing from year to year. It "strikes" urban as well as rural societies with quite an apprehensive percentage. Hypertension is the main cause of strokes.
In a seminar Control of Hypertension and its affect on the decline of stroke incidents, held on June 17 2000 at Yogyakarta's Gajah Mada University's School of Medicine, it was disclosed that uncontrolled hypertension in Indonesia has reached 95 percent. And it is almost certain that in hypertension cases there are complications, especially in the form of strokes.
Strokes can result in speech defects, disturbances in walking, arm/hand movements, slackness of facial features, partial body paralysis resulting in patients having to stay in bed and ruptured blood vessels in the brain causing death. Strokes have high rates of death and defects.
Uncontrolled hypertension is marked by bad blood tension, over 160/95. If this persists over a relatively long time, there will be, within a certain period, complications, particularly in the form of a stroke. Other complications are heart disturbances, kidney failure, impotence.
Generally, hypertension patients are people who are ignorant of medically handling or controlling the syndrome; actually they should not take the syndrome for granted considering the complications. Hypertension should be seriously handled. Failure to control hypertension can be fatal.
Despite the medicines taken, incorrect control can definitely lead to complications. With correct control, however, the patient will one day be free from medical dependence. So, control is the most important factor in overcoming hypertension.
Hypertension is closely related to life expectancy. The worse the hypertension of a patient, the shorter his/her life will be because of the numerous complications possible.
