BENGKULU, Bengkulu: The local office of the state electricity company, PLN, has announced there will be power blackouts in parts of the province in the next few months.
The blackouts will occur on a rotating basis pending completion of repairs to the main hydropower plant which was damaged by the floods last weekend.
Hadi Sunyoto, head of the local PLN office, said two of the four turbines at the power plant at Tes Lake were knocked out of operation by the floods, Antara reported.
The Tes power plant has a capacity of 16 MW of electricity.
Power cuts on a rotating basis have to be affected for the duration of the repair which could take a month, he said.
The cuts will occur between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., he added. (emb)
