Hydrogen as an Energy Transition Engine: Could It Replace Diesel Fuel?

The business prospects for hydrogen are considered massive, aligning with the energy transition programme that positions hydrogen as an energy carrier to support decarbonisation across various industries. In Indonesia, hydrogen development is already underway, including grey hydrogen derived from natural gas and the use of green hydrogen in power generation. One potential application is expanding the use of green hydrogen as a substitute for diesel fuel. Adryan Malindra, Chief Operating Officer of Pasifik Gas Indonesia, stated that developing green hydrogen requires regulatory support and government incentives, as well as broader implementation by the government across more sectors.
