Hybrid Cars for Mudik Travel: Do They Require Special Checks?
Hybrid cars are increasingly chosen by people for their fuel efficiency and environmentally friendly credentials. As the Mudik season approaches, many vehicle owners are wondering whether there is any special treatment required before using a hybrid car for long journeys.
In general, preparations for a hybrid car for Mudik are not much different from those for a conventional internal combustion engine car. The most important thing remains a thorough inspection to ensure that all vehicle components are in optimal condition.
Budi Darmawan Jantania, Vice Country Director of the Chery Business Unit, PT Chery Sales Indonesia, said that hybrid cars do not require special handling before being used for Mudik journeys. He added that owners are still advised to have their vehicles checked at an authorised workshop before undertaking long trips. This is to ensure that all vehicle systems are functioning properly.
Some components to check include the engine condition, braking system, and tyre condition. In addition, the hybrid system such as the hybrid control system and the battery should also be confirmed to be functioning normally. ‘It is recommended to ensure the engine system, braking system, tyre condition, and the hybrid control system and the hybrid battery are functioning normally so that the journey is safe and comfortable,’ he said.
Arif Nugroho, Service Manager at Hyundai Kalijaga Cirebon, echoed the sentiment, saying that, essentially, hybrid car users do not need to perform any special manual checks before Mudik. ‘In general, there is no need for special manual checks by users. The battery management system in a hybrid car automatically monitors the battery condition,’ he said.
Nevertheless, he still recommends owners carry out periodic checks at authorised workshops before long journeys. This step is important to ensure that all vehicle systems, including electrification components, are in good condition so that the Mudik journey can be undertaken more safely and comfortably.
