Hybrid Car Price Competition After Official Launch of Wuling Eksion PHEV

JAKARTA - With a competitive price, Wuling has officially launched the Eksion plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) as a new option for environmentally friendly cars. Featuring a seven-seater sport utility vehicle (SUV) concept, the Wuling Eksion PHEV not only offers eco-friendly technology without concerns over charging dependency but also provides comfort and spaciousness as a family car choice. The Eksion PHEV is equipped with a 1,500 cc naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine, similar to that used in the Wuling Darion PHEV. The power combination is transmitted to the wheels via a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). Its battery has a capacity of 20.5 kWh and is claimed to enable up to 125 kilometres in pure electric mode. Notably, relying on both the battery and hybrid system, the Wuling Eksion PHEV is claimed to achieve a distance of up to 1,000 km based on CLTC testing. In comparison, its price competes with the Geely Starry EM-i and Chery Tiggo 8 CSH. However, the pricing provided by Wuling is temporary, meaning there will be further adjustments for the Eksion PHEV. The arrival of the Eksion PHEV is predicted to enhance the competitive landscape in the hybrid car segment, in line with the rising public interest in environmentally friendly vehicles for fuel efficiency.
