Hutomo sprints to win Lido rally

JAKARTA (JP): Hutomo Mandala Putra sped to the national sprint
rally championship title at the Lido Lake resort, Sukabumi, West
Java, on Sunday.

Partnering with Ricardo Gelael in a Subaru Impreza, Hutomo
completed the grueling 18-kilometer track in the fastest time of
11 minutes and 12 seconds, just two seconds ahead of second
finishers Tony Hardianto and Anthony Sarwono.

"It's a delight for me, to win on the challenging track here,"
an elated Hutomo, President Soeharto's youngest son, said. More
than 40 drivers entered the race, which also served as the warm-
up for the national rally championship series, slated to kick off
early May in Pekanbaru, Riau. (amd)
