Hutomo awarded Setir Emas

JAKARTA (JP): Chairman of the Indonesian Motor Sports Body (IMI) Hutomo Mandala Putra received on Monday the Setir Emas award for his efforts in developing the sports in Indonesia.

Hutomo deserved the 22 carat gold plated award for his efforts in promoting the sports in Indonesia and in winning the Federation of the International Motor (FIM) favor to lift its ban on IMI, an official of the award-giving ceremony at the Sahid Jaya hotel said.

He also praised Hutomo for his efforts in setting up the Sentul track in Bogor, which many say one of the world's best circuits, and promoting its use for international events.

Hutomo, who is also President Soeharto's son, was chosen as the award's recipient by 31 journalists who cover IMI's activities.

The other awards, the Kemudi Kencana, were distributed to former best driver Tinton Suprapto for being the best patron for the sports, Helmy Sungkar for being the most active promoter and Suhandi Angriawan for being this year's best driver which also include crossers and drivers for their contributions to the development of the sports in Indonesia.
