Hutama Karya Supports Emergency Earthquake Response in NTT
PT Hutama Karya (Persero) is continuing to provide support to communities affected by the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province. The emergency response support includes basic necessities, sanitation supplies, medicines, and assistance with restoring infrastructure damaged by the disaster.
As of Thursday (20/8), Hutama Karya had distributed emergency aid through the NTT Disaster Task Force Post of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) at Halim Perdanakusuma, East Jakarta.
Plt. Executive Vice President (EVP) Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya, Hamdani, said the emergency response support reflects the company’s concern for affected communities as well as its commitment to contributing to disaster management together with the government and relevant stakeholders.
“Hutama Karya is committed to supporting the emergency response for communities affected by the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara. In addition to helping meet the basic needs of the community through the distribution of aid, we have also begun supporting the post-disaster recovery process by deploying heavy equipment in affected areas. For other areas, we continue to map needs on the ground so that the support provided can match the conditions and needs of the community,” Hamdani said in a statement on Friday (21/8/2026).
The emergency response action is part of Hutama Karya’s support in helping meet the needs of disaster-affected communities spread across seven regencies and one city on Flores Island.
Based on BNPB data updated as of Wednesday (19/8) at 16.00 WIB, 59,647 people have been displaced, with the largest number of evacuees in Manggarai Regency at 20,333 people, while 71 people died as a result of the earthquake. These conditions underscore the importance of support from various parties, particularly in meeting the basic needs of the community during the emergency response period.
Hutama Karya’s emergency response support refers to East Nusa Tenggara Governor Decree Number 305/KEP/HK/2026 concerning the Earthquake Emergency Response Status in NTT Province, with assistance focused on meeting basic needs, food and medicines for communities at evacuation sites.
Through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) Team, Hutama Karya delivered the first phase of assistance on Wednesday (19/8) to the Central BNPB NTT Disaster Task Force Team at the NTT Natural Disaster Task Force Post at Halim Perdanakusuma, East Jakarta. The assistance was handed over by Harya Digdaya, TJSL Analyst at Hutama Karya, to Ery as a representative of the Central BNPB NTT Disaster Task Force Team. Similar support was also provided by Hutama Karya’s subsidiary, PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI).
The assistance distributed by Hutama Karya covers various basic needs of affected communities, ranging from foodstuffs, ready-to-eat meals, mineral water, sanitation supplies, baby and adult necessities, to medicines and health supplies. The support continued on Thursday (20/8) with the distribution of a second phase of assistance in the form of tarpaulins and blankets to support the needs of communities in affected areas.
All logistical assistance distributed by Hutama Karya has been collected and handed over through the NTT Disaster Task Force Post at Halim Perdanakusuma. The aid is then distributed by air from Jakarta using Hercules aircraft and channelled through the NTT Provincial Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) to evacuation sites in need.
In addition to logistical assistance, Hutama Karya has also deployed one unit of heavy equipment to support the post-disaster recovery process in Pota Village, East Manggarai Regency.
Meanwhile, for two other affected areas, namely Ende-Maumere and Sikka Regency, the company is still mapping locations and needs on the ground as a basis for determining the type and requirements of heavy equipment to be deployed.
Furthermore, Hutama Karya continues to coordinate with the government and relevant stakeholders to ensure that the support provided is distributed in a coordinated and targeted manner. The company also continues to monitor developments in affected areas to adjust its support to the needs of the community during the emergency response period and recovery process.
Hutama Karya is committed to continuing to provide benefits to the community, including in emergency disaster conditions. Through the implementation of Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) and collaboration with various parties, the company supports disaster management efforts as well as the gradual and sustainable recovery of affected communities and infrastructure.
