PT Hutama Karya (Persero), together with partner Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Co. (SMCC), has recorded the achievement of 10 million safe man-hours without a work accident causing lost time injury on the Construction of Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit Project Phase 2 (1) Underground Section Contract Package CP203. This achievement was celebrated alongside the topping-off ceremony for the DJKN Building, marking the completion of the main structural works held on Wednesday (10/6) at the Kota Station TPO in Jakarta.

The 10 million safe man-hours milestone represents a significant landmark in the execution of a project within this dense and complex area. The figure represents the accumulated working hours of all project personnel without an incident causing a lost working day, whilst serving as proof of consistent application of Occupational Health and Safety (K3) standards on site.

At the same event, the DJKN Building topping-off procession was marked by the symbolic pouring of the last concrete in the rooftop area and the launching of a banner on the tower crane at Entrance-3. The completion of this building’s structure is an important step towards the next phase of work on the Jakarta MRT Phase 2 CP203 Project, which is also being prepared to support the 500th Anniversary celebrations of Jakarta City in June 2027.

The ceremony was attended by Hutama Karya’s Director of Operations I, Gunadi; President Director of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), Tuhiyat, alongside its Construction Director, Weni Maulina; Operational Director of SMCC Utama Indonesia, Suwandhi Durahman; Head of Supervision for the DKI Jakarta Provincial Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Office, Titin; and Head of Corporate Institutions for BPJS Ketenagakerjaan West Jakarta Branch, Carlos. The series of ceremonies included the symbolic handing over of souvenirs to workers, symbolic concrete pouring, the cutting of a tumpeng, and a management walkthrough to directly inspect the mockup location and work progress at Glodok Station and Kota Station.

The Zero Accident culture that delivered this achievement is implemented by involving all stakeholders in the project, from workers and supervisors to management ranks, both from SMCC and Hutama Karya. This pattern of comprehensive involvement maintains consistency in applying safety standards on the ground, whilst strengthening the commitment that must continue to be maintained in subsequent work stages.

‘The achievement of 10 million safe man-hours is the result of the commitment of all project personnel in consistently applying a work safety culture. Safety is not just a target, but has become part of the work culture that must be continuously maintained in every stage of the project. We hope this achievement can serve as motivation to continue maintaining high safety standards whilst preserving work quality and progress,’ said Hutama Karya’s Director of Operations I, Gunadi.

The Jakarta MRT Phase 2 CP203 Project forms part of a National Strategic Project (PSN) being executed under a cooperation scheme between Hutama Karya and SMCC. This project is one of the backbones of the capital’s mass transport development and is expected to strengthen connectivity and support sustainable public mobility in Jakarta.

‘A working method that places safety as the primary factor, alongside achieving progress according to plan, orderly execution, and quality results, is a hallmark of Hutama Karya in executing every project. This approach is applied to ensure every product delivered provides tangible benefits to the community,’ said Gunadi.

‘Through this celebration at the MRT CP203 Project, Hutama Karya hopes that the established safety culture can become a reference for other projects, so that the implementation of the Zero Accident programme continues to be maintained in a disciplined, consistent and sustainable manner across all company work lines,’ he concluded.
