Hutama Karya: Progress on Palembang-Betung Toll Road Reaches 81.99 Percent
PT Hutama Karya reports that the construction progress of the Palembang-Betung toll road in South Sumatra has reached 81.99 percent as of mid-May 2026.
Hutama Karya Operations Director III Iwan Hermawan stated in Palembang on Friday that, in addition to the steadily increasing construction progress, the land acquisition process for the 69.2 km toll road has reached 87.45 percent.
According to him, the toll road development is being accelerated due to its strategic role in supporting connectivity in South Sumatra towards Jambi, as well as facilitating logistics distribution and public mobility.
“The construction of this toll road is not only focused on accelerating construction but also on maintaining work quality and safety aspects during the construction process,” Iwan said in his statement.
He explained that Hutama Karya targets the completion of two priority sections, namely Section 1 Palembang-Rengas and Section 2 Rengas-Pangkalan Balai, in the third quarter of 2026.
Meanwhile, Section 3 Pangkalan Balai-Betung is targeted for completion in early 2027.
Iwan stated that his side continues to strengthen coordination with various parties to ensure that the land completion process and construction work proceed according to targets.
“We want to ensure that every stage of work runs effectively and to standard. We continue to strengthen coordination so that on-site obstacles can be addressed immediately and project completion can proceed optimally,” he said.
The Palembang-Betung toll road is a continuation of the Kayu Agung-Palembang toll road section that has previously been operational.
The existence of this toll road section is considered strategic as it forms part of the network connecting South Sumatra and Jambi.
In addition to improving inter-regional connectivity, the toll road project is projected to open new economic growth centres along the corridor, from industrial areas and trade to services and logistics sectors.
Once fully connected, the Palembang-Betung toll road is expected to reduce travel times and lower logistics costs in southern Sumatra.
