Hutama Karya Partners with Unand to Develop Infrastructure Human Resources
PT Hutama Karya (Persero) has established a partnership with Andalas University (Unand) to support the development of human resources and research in the infrastructure sector. The collaboration encompasses educational programmes, research, innovation, and competency development tailored to industry needs.
The cooperation was formalised through the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Hutama Karya’s Director of Human Capital & Legal, Muhammad Fauzan, and Andalas University Rector, Efa Yonnedi, at the Unand Convention Hall in Padang on Friday. The agreement formed part of the agenda for the HK Mengajar 2026 programme held by Hutama Karya in Padang, which was attended by approximately 650 participants, including university students, school pupils, academics, and members of the public.
Muhammad Fauzan stated that synergy between higher education institutions and the business sector is essential to prepare a workforce capable of meeting the evolving demands of industry. “Through this cooperation, we hope more opportunities can be utilised by students and academics to become more closely acquainted with the industrial world, while also opening space for collaboration that yields innovation and solutions beneficial to society,” Fauzan said. He added that the synergy between education and enterprise is key to producing superior and competitive human resources.
Under the partnership, students will gain broader access to internship programmes, practical work placements, practitioner-led teaching, and talent development relevant to the needs of the construction and infrastructure sector. In the research field, Hutama Karya and Andalas University will encourage the development of applied research related to construction digitalisation, technology development, material innovation, and various studies supporting sustainable development.
Hutama Karya’s President Commissioner, Denny Abdi, noted that infrastructure development requires competent human resources capable of adapting to technological advances. During the HK Mengajar event, Denny invited participants to view infrastructure development not only from its physical aspects but also its impact on connectivity, economic activity, and job creation. “West Sumatra’s development needs to be supported by infrastructure, collaboration, and superior human resources. Through HK Mengajar, we want to show that infrastructure not only connects regions but also opens access, drives the economy, creates jobs, and improves the quality of life,” Denny said.
In addition to educational activities, Hutama Karya also distributed educational assistance, including scholarships for selected students and support for lecture facilities and infrastructure. The company also handed over Healthy and Liveable Temporary Housing (Hunsela) assistance to the Andalas University Alumni Association to aid communities affected by disasters in West Sumatra. The HK Mengajar programme has previously been implemented in several regions, including Riau, Jambi, and North Sumatra. Through the programme, Hutama Karya introduces the construction and infrastructure sector to the younger generation, including the technological advancements used in infrastructure development and management.
