PADANG — PT Hutama Karya (Persero) is implementing traffic management on the Padang-Pekanbaru Toll Road, Padang-Sicincin section, in Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra, specifically at kilometre 18+998 on 2-3 March 2026 from 09:00 to 15:00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB).

“This traffic management is related to bridge girder installation works,” said Rizki Dana, Vice President of Corporate Communications at Hutama Karya, on Sunday in Padang.

Rizki stated that the bridge girder installation is being carried out as part of the Lubuk Alung interchange development on the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) Pekanbaru-Padang section, Padang-Sicincin segment.

The traffic management is being implemented as a mitigation measure to ensure road user safety whilst supporting smooth construction operations in the field.

During the traffic management period, Hutama Karya has prepared two traffic flow regulation schemes. Firstly, a detour will be implemented at KM 18+998 at the girder installation work location for road users coming from Kapalo Hilalang Toll Gate heading towards Padang Toll Gate. The second scheme involves diverting traffic to the national road for users travelling from Padang Toll Gate towards Kapalo Hilalang Toll Gate.

“This traffic management is a mitigation measure to ensure road user safety during the work whilst supporting smooth construction operations in the field,” he said.

To ensure traffic remains safe and controlled during construction, Hutama Karya is coordinating with the West Sumatra Regional Police Traffic Directorate, Padang Pariaman Police Traffic Unit, the National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN) West Sumatra, and the West Sumatra Provincial Transportation Office.

The detour route used will be on the side of the existing road and will be equipped with traffic signs, road markings, lighting, and other safety devices. Hutama Karya is also deploying traffic controllers at critical points and conducting outreach through various communication channels to ensure information about the traffic management reaches the public effectively.

“We urge road users to reduce speed when passing near the work location, maintain safe distances, and comply with traffic signs,” he advised.

The Pekanbaru-Padang Toll Road, Padang-Sicincin section, spanning 36 kilometres, has been operational since 28 May 2025 and serves as a strategic connection in Ranah Minang. The presence of interchanges including the Lubuk Alung interchange is expected to further strengthen regional accessibility and provide direct benefits to road users by reducing travel time from approximately 1.5 hours via the national route to approximately 30 minutes via the toll road.
