PT Hutama Karya is continuing the installation of clean water infrastructure to support the second phase of temporary housing (huntara) construction in Palembayan District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra. The clean water installation for the second phase is targeted for completion within three days, by Sunday 22 February 2026.

Hutama Karya site supervisor Deri Limarta said in Agam Regency on Thursday 19 February that approximately 800 metres of water pipe burial and backfilling work remains to be completed. The effort is being undertaken to ensure clean water can flow to homes in the second-phase temporary housing site.

Clean water for the temporary housing residents is sourced from a river in Kampung Tangah, located 3.3 kilometres from the second-phase housing site in Jorong Padang Gantiang.

"We'll have this finished in roughly two or three more days, three days at most. Phase three isn't finished yet — only phase one is complete. Phase two will be done shortly, and for phase three we're still at the stage of laying out and connecting the plates. We're using just one piece of heavy equipment because if we used two, it would cause traffic congestion in the surrounding area," Limarta said.

In addition to the clean water installation work, the company is also focusing on repairing damaged or incomplete units at the first-phase temporary housing site.

In constructing the temporary housing, Hutama Karya is maximising local community participation by employing 26 local workers.

The second-phase temporary housing is located in Jorong Padang Gantiang, Palembayan District, comprising a total of 88 units.
