Hutama Karya Constructs Modern Minimalist Regional Hospital in Tual, Maluku
PT Hutama Karya (Persero) is supporting the enhancement of national healthcare services through the construction of the Maren H. Noho Renuat Regional Hospital in Tual, Maluku Province. Designed with a modern, minimalist, and functional concept, the hospital is expected to provide high-quality healthcare services for communities in eastern Indonesia.
The construction is part of the Ministry of Health’s Rapid Achievement Programme (PHTC) in the health sector, which aims to provide modern medical facilities while supporting the equitable distribution of healthcare services across island regions. The hospital is being built on a site spanning more than 10 hectares in the North Dullah District, Kei Island.
The project utilises a ‘Design & Build’ approach to ensure an integrated planning and construction process, optimising building quality and execution effectiveness. PT Hutama Karya (Persero) has designed the hospital as a modern facility featuring a three-storey main building equipped with various priority medical services.
Architecturally, the project adopts a modern minimalist concept, with the area divided into public, semi-public, and private zones to support efficient hospital service flows. The public area is designed to be open and easily accessible, while private areas—including operating theatres, radiology, isolation rooms, and intensive care units—are specifically positioned to maintain the comfort and privacy of both patients and medical staff.
Beyond its service functions, the building design considers environmental aspects and regional sustainability. Air circulation systems, building lighting, waste management, clean water supply, and the arrangement of open spaces are all designed to support optimal hospital operations.
Executing projects in island regions like Tual presents unique challenges, particularly regarding the distribution of materials and heavy equipment, which relies on logistics ship schedules. To ensure smooth progress, the project team is managing material mobilisation in stages.
Hutama Karya is also implementing Quality, Health, Safety, Security & Environment (QHSSE) strategies through rigorous work supervision, the application of construction safety procedures, and regular field monitoring to ensure the project meets safety and quality standards.
Acting EVP Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya, Hamdani, stated that the construction of the Maren H. Noho Renuat Regional Hospital is part of the company’s commitment to supporting the equitable distribution of national health infrastructure. “Hutama Karya is committed to providing health infrastructure that is not only superior in construction quality but also capable of providing long-term benefits to the community,” Hamdani explained in a statement on Sunday.
Through this project, Hutama Karya hopes that the development of health infrastructure will act as a catalyst in improving the quality of life for the community and strengthening national development equity, reaching even the most remote island regions and eastern Indonesia.
